If you like history and old romantic castles, this is the tour for you. I invite you to explore one of the most beautiful castles in Europe - Trakošćan and visit a charming Baroque city Varaždin. Admire green hills with houses, vineyards and castles and taste delicious meals from Zagorje region.

Castle Trakošćan and Varaždin

Departure in the morning. I will pick you up at agreed time at your hotel. Drive through the region of Zagorje. First we will visit the Castle Trakošćan, the most beautiful and visited castle in Croatia which is located less than an hour from Zagreb. It was built in the 13th century as a part of the fortification system and rebuild in Neo-Gothic style in 1850s when it acquired its present appereance. We will walk by the lake and enjoy English-style park, climb up to the castle and visit the museum inside the castle. I will be telling you some stories of the families who lived there since the Middle Ages. You will be able to immagine how people used to live in the castles.

After visiting the castle, we will continue to Varaždin, Croatia's best preserved Habsburg era town and offen called "Little Vienna." The town is a typical example of Baroque architecture. It's interesting to know that Varaždin was the capital of Croatia in the 18th century. Orientational walk through the city. Discover its main attractions: Cathedral, City Theatre, City Hall, Sermage Palace, Old Town Castle, cemetery which is one of the pearls of garden architecture and natural monuments.

Free time for lunch to try some delicious specialites from the Zagorje region like Zagorje soup, roast turkey with mlinci or Zagorski štrukli (fresh cottage cheese topped with cream). Return to Zagreb.
