Departure in the morning. I will pick you up at agreed time at your hotel. Our first stop will be the small village Kumrovec. We will visit the Ethnological Village with well preserved village houses from the turn of 19/20th century. So far about 40 houses were restored. You will be able to see how was the daily life of the peasants and their families and some traditional crafs. Permanent ethnological exhibitions such as the Zagorje-style Wedding, the Life of Newlyweds, From Hemp to Linen, Blacksmith’s Crafts, Cartwright’s Craft, Pottery, From Grain to Bread are very interesting for the visitors. A special attraction of the village is the birthplace of Josip Broz Tito and his monument.
After visiting Kumrovec, we will go to the beautiful castle Veliki Tabor. It was built by the aristocratic Rattkay family in the 16th century. Today the castle is turned into a museum. Enjoy the beauty of the late Gothic-Renaissance architecture, decoration and the picturesque surrounding landscapes.
Optional break for lunch. I suggest lunch at a beautiful local restaurant Grešna Gorica. While you are enjoying the meals of Zagorje region, I will tell you a legend about the tragic and forbidden love between the Count Frederick of Celje and beautiful Veronika Desinić.
