In the morning we will visit a truffle hunting family (pioneers of truffle hunting) in Central istria and go for truffle hunt with dogs. We will drive towards Motovun forest, the most famous truffles region. The experience is fulfilled by the stunning view on Motovun town and lake Butoniga.
After a story about truffles and truffle hunting tradition in the family, you will taste three typical Istrian bandies; honey brandy, mistletoe brandy and cherry brandy. When you open your appetite it’s time for truffle delicacies such as Istrian cheese with truffles (three different types), sausages with truffles, canapeis with truffles, truffle honey, truffle oil, scrambled eggs with fresh truffles (which are prepared in front of the guests so they can participate in the preparation) and a surprise dessert. Tasting of the homemade wines, Malvasia and Teran, from the cellar.
Now we are ready to start our adventure with the family and their trained dog. If we are lucky we will find some truffles - the hidden treasure. Open your eyes and ears and enjoy this unique opportunity. Enjoy a beautiful and almost untouched nature.
Our next destination will be the smallest town in the world, HUM. With only 18 houses, surrounded by walls and gates, this little 1000 years old place preserves the medieval atmosphere. Hum has all the usual town services — the central square, a post office, two churches, the town cemetery, a shop of hand-made souvenirs made by Istrian masters, a shop of local wines, the town museum. Continue towards Opatija, the charming Croatian resort. Get to know Villa Angiolina in neoclassical style and the Church of St.James, a former Benedictine abbey from the XV century that gave name to the city and enjoy a walk by the sea before continuing towards Zagreb.
